Chimera Scripts
Client-side Lua projects for retail Halo PC, including teammate nametags, vehicle cameras, lap-limit synchronisation, and experimental ghost replay.
Chimera Scripts is my collection of client-side Lua projects for retail Halo PC. It includes teammate nametags, first-person and rear-view vehicle cameras, lap-limit synchronisation, an experimental HRL ghost replay system, and supporting diagnostic tools.
Client-side improvements for Halo PC
The nametag script adds readable labels above teammates and anchors them to the rendered biped, so they follow crouching and animation poses. The vehicle scripts provide a toggleable first-person view and a hold-to-look-back camera without changing map or vehicle tags.
A separate lap-limit script keeps the client's displayed Race limit aligned with server changes. The repository also contains an experimental replay viewer that decodes HRLREPLAY3 recordings, spawns a client-side ghost, and replays recorded movement and animation.
Built from live-game investigation
Several features depend on retail Halo PC memory and rendering behaviour that Chimera does not expose directly. I verified those details against the running game and documented the resulting addresses, structures, callback behaviour, and known limitations rather than treating build-specific findings as universal.
Tools that support the scripts
The repository includes reusable state-dump and calibration tools, a Python bridge that pairs game diagnostics with screenshots, regression tests for replay decoding and playback, and technical notes for continuing the investigation.
The scripts target retail Halo PC. The project remains active, with the ghost replay system and further engine research still in development.
